As a kid reading gun magazines I always wanted one of these knives.
Awhile back I got one from a member here.
I actually debated selling it because I didn't think it was for me but I decided to give it a try and I really like it.
Might be my go to blade for a time anyway.
The 125 are very nice blades.
I have one in Stacked Leather and Stag.
Nice too look at too.
Another highly under appreciated factory knife.
Double Ott should be along shortly with an impressive array of Stacked Leather examples.
A lot of those knives were made in my hometown Effingham IL a friend of mine has some very nice ones.
He won't let go of them though.
I believe Mike Stewart of BRKT ran it then.
I wonder how you can tell if you have an "older" one.
It wouldn't make any difference to me, just curious.
It will say Effingham on the blade, Mike Stewart did run it then and makes all the Classic Blackjacks now.
Larry I wonder how you can tell if you have an "older" one.

I scored a Blackjack Woodsman with a nice piece of stag from cutting edge a couple of months ago.
I'd love to find a Trailguide with a similar handle.
What's kinda strange is I knew what a blackjack was long before I had even heard of a Randall.
I guess it's pretty common with copied stuff blackjack knives 125 review matter what it is.
It severely harshes my mellow to see people selling Blackjack, Colin Cox and other rip-off knives on eBay with "just like a Randall" or similar words in the auction title.
True, but I'd still rather have a Blackjack in many cases.
I don't like hollow grinds, Randall's blade grind of choice.
True, but I'd still rather have a Blackjack in many cases.
I don't like hollow grinds, Randall's blade grind of choice.
If that's all then there are plenty of convex knives out there to buy without supporting people who are stealing others work.
Falkniven comes to mind immediately.
I like blackjack knives 125 review aesthetics of certain knives Blackjack makes, particularly the 125.
Fallkniven makes a wonderful knife, but for the most part I stay away from synthetics.
I find the blade grind a large enough difference that the resemblance doesn't bother me, especially since that difference is functional in nature.
I think it's less of a problem in this case than what is more commonly seen around these parts, clones of the Alan Wood Woodlore.

So if I more info a woodlore rip off but put a how height hollow grind on it, it's not a rip off?
Grind makes no difference, Kama.
The profile is the same, the look is the same even the grind lines are the same.
Here's a blackjack model 7 from there own website Same knife.
Not an homage, not "inspired by".
Made to capitalize on someone else's hard work.
And do you know why you like the model 125 so much?
Is it because of some great designer at Blackjack?
No, it's because of Randall knives, they designed it.
Blackjack 125 But wait!
The blackjack has a stacked leather handle so it's clearly not a ripoff.
I mean blackjack knives 125 review knife is just a knife right?
Got a sharp edge and a handle.
No, that's complete nonsense.
There are others in "their" line up that are straight out Randall ripoffs too.
And no matter how many little things you want to say are different it's just justifying thievery.
You can say the grind is enough to make it different but it's not.
It's just cheaper and cheapskates are ok amazing blackjack runs stealing from someone if it saves them money.
I know that's offensive and you're not going to take it well and I sincerely do apologize if it does make you mad.
But it's the truth.
It makes me mad and offends me when people try to justify supporting thieves.
It should you too and blackjack knives 125 review else.
Here's the deal, Bo Randall worked 50 years to make his designs unique and build the brand.
His sons have furthered that tradition.
And now someone comes along, sees they have no patent on their designs because it's near impossible to patent a fixed blade knife and takes all that work for themselves.
What took Bo 50 years to make and establish a copy cat does in an instant.
Thus stealing what isn't theirs and profiting from another's labor.
Now, if Randall is ok with this, if there's some kind of deal or understanding struck between Randall and BlackJack then so be it.
I apologize completely and profusely to BlackJack knives for all that I've said.
But I don't see anything mentioning that on their website.
Why would I be mad?
We're discussing knives online on a message board.
You and I are having blackjack knives 125 review disagreement, that's it.
There's no need to reach for the nearest bowie.
In any case you're making assumptions.
My favorite knife of all is a fighting bowie forged by Stuart Branson.
It's a beautiful thing, with a differentially tempered, distally tapered blade.
It's a true custom knife, made to my specifications, with some tweaks to the design added by Stuart.
Artistic license and all that.
I spec'd the steel, the guard material, handle material, blade length.
Even the sheath was custom made, designed to match the knife.
My most used outdoors knives are a puukko made by Pekka Tuominen an original, not the Spyderco collaboration and a criollo-inspired piece from Ray Laconico.
On my wedding day I had a Kerry Hampton slipjoint in the pocket of my tux.
I didn't buy this web page Blackjack because I'm a cheapskate.
I'm willing to pay for steel, I've done so in the past and will continue to do so.
I'm well aware that the Blackjack 125 traces its origins to the Randall 25.
The resemblance is unmistakeable, even if the Randall is a bit better looking.
I wanted a Randall originally, but as I mentioned I don't like hollow grinds.
Can't stand 'em except on folding knives.
I contacted Randall if it was possible to order the 25 with a convex or even flat grind, but the person I spoke to laughed.
I wanted a stag, drop point hunting knife with a convex blade and Randall wasn't willing to build me one.
When I found the Blackjack I ordered it without any compunction.
I don't have any now.
May I ask why you regard Blackjack with such vitriol?
I don't see you getting this worked up by the guys making Woodlore clones.
Those are blatant copies, right on down to the scandi grind.

I'm sorry for assuming you were a cheap skate.
So, you really like an admire Randall designs?
Then why do you find it ok to buy from someone ripping them off?
Just because Randall won't do a convex?
That still is no justification.
It's a rip off and you're rewarding that by buying from them.
I know you don't understand where I'm coming from, I get that.
You can't until you've had something stolen from you that you've worked hard to perfect.
I won't argue the point anymore.
I have vitriol for anyone who steals from someone else.
It's wrong to steal isn't it?
You're not saying it's ok what BlackJack is doing are you?
As for the woodlore clones, now you're assuming.
I've spoken against it many times on here and elsewhere.
I've even had friends get mad at me for speaking against it because they make woodlore clones.
I believe it's wrong no matter who does it and I believe it's wrong to support it.
I realize not many other do.
There's to much money to made the maker and or saved the buyer by compromising one's own integrity.
AKA-- Land Rover SUVlolno one cares anymore ,in this times and age is a free for allits all about the choices one makes morally and financiallyi can't aFord a Land Rover so I buy a new Ford Explorer do they look the same?
The people who get stolen from care.
I realize that no one else does.
That's because they have something to gain and nothing to lose.
It's because they aren't the ones being stolen from.
I can guarantee you they would change their tune if it happened to them.
I love ya, Gabe but you're wrong.

PS if you want that R back.
Looks a bit similar to the 125.
The older ones seemed to copy a Randal.
Next thing you know someone will be trying to copy a Buck 110!!
